SYNOPSIS // We meet Jesse and Celine nine years on in Greece, almost two decades have passed since their first meeting on that train bound for Vienna. At the end of a vacation in Greece, Jesse and Celine are gifted one farewell dream night at a hotel by friends but end up discussing the past, present, and future of their relationship instead.
MY THOUGHTS // I’ll admit - it’s no surprise to me that this is my favorite film of 2013 considering how much I adored the first two. Everything you love about these characters is still ever present - their charming chemistry, the fluid dialogue, it all just feels so comfortable safe - that is until you get to the nitty gritty of the majority of conversations that take the place of the second and third acts. Sure, this is a couple much in love who have been gifted a happy ending, but what of the people, the children they leave behind in their wake? Now that everyone knows about their fairytale, what do you do after the magic is fading away? The question isn’t whether they still love each other or not - it’s whether that’s enough to keep them together.
If you want love, then this it. This is real life. It’s not perfect but it’s real.
MY RATING // 5 out of 5
